    About DiscipleShape Life

Discipleship is the journey of becoming a worshipper of Jesus—worship is bowing in our hearts before God and be shaped by Him.

It is the lifelong journey of becoming a true worshipper of Jesus. Worship is the heart position on a true disciple. More than songs or outward expressions—it is the posture of bowing our hearts before God, allowing Him to shape our character, desires, and direction. Jesus calls His followers not merely to believe in Him, but to learn from Him, walk with Him, and be transformed into His likeness. As we surrender to His Lordship, our lives increasingly reflect His holiness, love, and truth. This inward posture of worship—humble submission and willing obedience—is at the center of what it means to be a disciple.

    Scripture Foundation

John 4:23–24 – Jesus teaches that true worshippers "worship the Father in spirit and truth," showing that worship is an inward posture shaped by God.

Romans 12:1–2 – Paul describes worship as offering our bodies as a living sacrifice and being transformed by the renewal of our minds.

Luke 9:23 – Jesus says that being His disciple means denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following Him.

Matthew 11:28–30 – Jesus invites us to learn from Him, for He is gentle and humble in heart.

2 Corinthians 3:18 – As we behold the Lord, we are "transformed into His image" through the Spirit.

I started writing discipleship material and books in 2020, during the shutdown. I had the idea of creating a discipleship material that focused on God's word and asked disciples to look deep into His word.

For a long time, I had been looking for a discipleship system such as this. Many systems - though good - do not push learners into the word of God, instead, they often spoon-feed disciples with writings, though often correct, but hindering the exploration of God's breathed-out word.

After that, I started writing some short devotionals and books, and finally, courses.

Serving the Philippines: Cultivating a Heart for the Nations

    Greetings from Dumaguete City, Philippines!

For more than two decades, our family has had the privilege of serving Christ in this vibrant community. What began as a calling to local church ministry has grown into a broader vision of seeing lives transformed through discipleship and mobilizing others for God's global mission.

Over the years, Andrew has served in youth ministry, associate pastoral leadership, and now as a senior pastor. Alongside these responsibilities, our ministry has expanded to include a children's sponsorship program that helps students access education, a prison ministry, and a Bible study for the expatriate community.

Recently, we had the joy of helping facilitate a Kairos Missions Course, an experience that deepened our conviction that every believer has a role to play in God's redemptive plan for the nations. Watching participants discover God's heart for the world and embrace their place in His mission was both encouraging and inspiring.

Through this experience, Andrew sensed a growing desire to serve as a missions mobilizer with the Betancourt Missions team. His passion is to help others catch God's missional vision—to equip churches and believers to see the Great Commission not as an optional activity for a few, but as a calling for every follower of Christ.

Looking ahead, we are praying toward the development of a Missional Training Center in the Philippines. This is not envisioned as a traditional Bible school, but as a practical training environment designed to cultivate a missional mindset and mobilize believers for the Great Commission. Our desire is to help pastors, church leaders, and everyday followers of Jesus discover how God can use them to reach their communities and the nations. Through discipleship, missions education, mentorship, and hands-on ministry opportunities, we hope to inspire and equip more people to live as sent followers of Christ.

As we partner with Betancourt Missions, our hope is to strengthen and expand the work God has already established here in the Philippines while also inspiring others to engage in His mission among the nations. We believe discipleship remains at the heart of the Great Commission, and we are excited to help raise up disciples who make disciples.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership. Your support enables us to continue serving our local community while helping mobilize others to participate in God's work around the world.

Together, we can see more people reached, more disciples made, and more workers sent into the harvest.

    With gratitude,

    Andrew and Gilda Scribner
